Metabolic Assessment

With a simple breath test I can measure your body’s unique metabolism and calorie needs.  This is especially useful in weight management programs, taking out some of the guess work related to how many calories you really need in order to lose weight.

Metabolism matters.  Metabolism is the total number of calories burned each day.  It is influenced by a number of factors, such as:  age, bodyweight, gender, muscle mass, hormone levels, medications and illness or disease.  Even individuals that are similar to one another, such as family members or friends, can have significant metabolic differences, sometimes as much as 900 calories per day.  This may explain why weight loss varies so much among participants in the same weight loss program.  Using an actual metabolic measurement rather than an estimate, we can create a personalized calorie budget as well as exercise and nutrient targets.

How to Prepare for your metabolism test:

  • Do not eat or drink anything except water for at least 4 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • Do not exercise for at least 4 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • Do not consume caffeine or nutrition supplements for 4 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • Do not use nicotine for 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment.
  • Continue to take your prescribed medicines.
